No Man Walks Alone Archive Sale: Aug 15th

No Man Walks Alone may very well be the best independent menswear store around. Sure, there are boutiques that specialize in more niche markets - selvedge denim and workwear, vintage, tailoring, etc. - but NMWA is relatively unrivaled in its ability to cover so much of the breadth of tailored and casual wear in a way that's interesting, cohesive, and somehow all incredibly curated. Every year, Greg Lellouche and his crew have introduced me to brands that I've come to love. The only issue is that it's often a tangible jump in price from the mall brands we grew up with.

Thankfully, there are end of season and archive sales. Generally, end of season sales in the fashion industry tend to be the best consistent sales and occur on a biannual schedule. The only things that usually trump end of season sales, online at least, are archive sales. These sales, which occur much more infrequently and are difficult to predict, are a method of clearing out old inventory that have made it past several rounds of seasonal sales. So on the one hand, you're picking from the "bottom of the barrel," but in cases like NMWA, all the things in the barrel tend to be very nice. If you're also willing to wear some of the quirkier items in the shop, the potential value is as good as you'll find on the secondhand market.

NMWA recently had a brick and mortar archive sale in NYC, but thankfully they're now going to be running an online archive sale on From-The-Archives from Aug 15-23rd for those that aren't local, during which the first three days will only be accessible by emailed code sent out to subscribers. To sign up for that list, click on the link above and enter your email. The code should be sent out on the morning of the sale.

The last time time this happened online in 2017 I believe, prices were insane. You. might have noticed I skipped posting a lot of end of season sales this year, mostly due to a general meh feeling about the amount of ironic streetwear on the market right now, but this one should be something to get excited about.

P.S. - Apologies for the recent inactivity. I was in Italy for a while looking incredibly out of place in a Kapital Ring Coat and will be heading to the West Coast for a week, but hopefully should be posting more shortly. Review of some 18 East jawnz when I get back.

  1. Did I miss the window, or is the signup link pointing to the wrong place? Looks like just the authorization page showing up. (In either case, thanks for the heads-up!)

    1. Hey Pat - I think I might have posted the redirect page after the email signup. I’m on a plane now and don’t have access to a computer, but the first link should work (in the text), which is http://www.from-the-archives.com/

  2. I used to like them a lot. But they have this cult-like following on Styleforum which puts me off so much. Anyway thanks for this!

    1. You’re welcome Andy. Good things tend to attract people, though I might know what you mean. It can be sometimes difficult to keep your own opinions with people who are so into something.
