Sale Alert - Camoshita and ts(s) at Century 21

Oversized Houndstooth Wool Coat $329.99
"WHAT?"

I said that out loud just now at work like some sort of weirdo. I was just minding my own business, checking the new arrivals on Century 21's site when I saw a bunch of Camoshita and ts(s) products staring back at me. What?

Camoshita Waxed Cotton Blazer - $219.99

Like many Japanese brands, ts(s) and Camoshita are rarely available in the US mainstream market. Most of the time you're limited to boutiques, of which sales tend to be limited, so seeing both of them on a standard US outlet site is way out of left field. I suppose the Engineered Garments drop a month or two back might have been an indication, but who knows. What's important is that they're here now and nobody seems to know about it for the moment.

Camoshita is the brainchild of Yasuto Kamoshita, one of the forefront style icons of this generation, known for a relaxed classic style that shares the same sort of "sprezzatura" attitude you might find in his Italian counterparts, but with a distinctively Japanese point of view. The coat shown above, one of the highlights of the AW 2016 collection, is available right now at a really nice price of $329.99 (it was last seen on sale during the Mr. Porter sale for $725). It's meant to be a bit oversized and drapey, similar to the title picture above. If you need a reference, I would take a guess that the coat has similar measurements to this one sold at No Man Walks Alone, and you can also look to Kamoshita himself in similar dress for styling cues (see above). There are also a few jackets and shirts available, including that really nice peak lapel wool blazer I'd have a hard time saying no to if it was in my size and a cool diamond print camp collar shirt. I'd also appreciate someone buying that size 38 cotton blazer - I can't afford the domestic firestorm that would ensue with that showing up at my door.

ts(s) AW 2016

ts(s) tends to be a little bit more quirky, featuring Japanese designer Tajuki Suzuki's unique take on workwear with a special emphasis on detailing and textiles. You'll notice a few Japanese design staples here and there - asymmetrical closures, pockets in all manner of place and position, band collars. Sizes seem to be somewhat limited to bigger guys, but there are a few pieces in smaller/medium sizes as well.

Century 21's product photography is as typically bad as most outlet stores, which means that the average person who comes across it is less likely to randomly order something. It's almost as if aliens came to earth and started wearing clothes to try and look natural. But I'd be surprised if much of this stuff is left once the word gets out. Some Engineered Garments jeans came on the site for about 48 hours (at $59.99) before they were either all taken off or sold to flip. For other availability, the proverbial online haystack that is Yoox sporadically gets Camoshita and ts(s) in stock, which I've linked below. Aside from that I would keep your eye out for some of the less common sales like Mr. Porter, No Man Walks Alone, and Unionmade at end of season.

Looks like we might actually get some semblance of a Fall finally, so this sale may be the perfect time to sport something new to enjoy for shoulder weather.

PS - This awesome Camoshita cardigan just popped up hours after everything else was added, so I'd check back every once in a while if you're interested. C21 in general has a habit of adding stock in late in the day (and not in order of new arrivals). I'm actually nervous something too good to pass on is going to show up in a little while in my size. This is bad.
PSS - There's still Engineered Garments stuff popping up every few days. #staywoke

  1. oh mine. Found your blog randomly and totally surprised the camoshita coat is on sale at C21 and I bought the eidos robe coat two weeks ago. It's like finding a doppelganger
