RRL at Barneys Warehouse *Update 5/19 - Now Extra 50% Off With More/Better Selection*

*Update 5/19 - The sale just increased to an extra 50% off for today and also added in some stuff I noted was excluded at the time of this first posting. Add code "welcome10" for an extra 10% off, and a casbhack site like eBates or Topcashback for 3-6% back. You will not do better than this for new RRL. In fact, these are the type of prices I would normally consider buying and then flipping to pay for other purchases, but I'm moving shortly and don't want to have to deal with it at the moment. I did buy the quilted jacket above and the indigo sport coat below, of course, because they both said the words "indigo" and "Japanese" at some point in the description, and that's just the sort of person I've become.*

Outlet shopping can be an exercise in frustration - there's always a mountain of stuff, most of it is awful or made for the outlet, and chances are that on any given day you will not find anything worth buying. That's true 9 times out of 10 (maybe more), but if you stick around long enough and have the stubbornness to go back to the well, eventually you'll be rewarded. What's that saying? "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results." As stupid as that proverb is, it accurately describes the mindset behind successful outlet and thrift shopping.

Barneys Warehouse just dropped a whole bunch of RRL on their site a couple days ago, and today a lot of it went on an extra 40% off for their "Jet Set Sale" (whatever that means). I've been picking up a few RRL pieces the past few years, and in general their products are terrific, if not a bit overpriced. At clearance prices things become a lot more palatable, and you'd be hard pressed to find similar deals on RRL more than a couple times a year unless you're a hardcore thrifter.

In particular, RRL's hand knits have always been showstoppers, including this linen blend multi version if you're up for a splurge. I also like this melange sweater, these interesting corduroy utility pants (which I might buy for myself), and this quilted cotton sweater. There's a lot of denim on sale as well in a surprising range of sizes, in addition to a good selection of basics. Bad news is there are some articles that don't qualify currently, like the pea coat, the chambray sportcoat, and some of the folkloric pieces, but I'd keep your eyes open down the road for that to change sooner or later. *Update - it was sooner. Those are now 50% off*

PS - Bonus sale if you're in the NYC area - No Man Walks Alone is having an archive sale starting Friday. Details here.

    1. Thanks man, there's always next time. I gotta say, you've got me super intrigued about what you're working on these days (I mean, in addition to your breakfasts). Can't wait to see it.

    1. Ha yeah, I'm a little thankful I'm not in the position to buy anything at the moment. Should be great though, if it is anything like the last archive (online) sale was.
