Surprise - Mr. Porter Sale Hits Up to 80% Off (?) With New Stock Added
Mr. Porter hits up to 70% off today 80% off today (the site says 70%, but the carts are really all over the place currently) with new stock added. The site is also kinda buggy right now, so it seems they're having some problems. Some items show up as 70% here, then in cart are 50% etc. In fact, it's next to impossible to figure out what price something's going to be in the cart at the moment. FYI, I'd advise taking some screenshots if they aren't showing the same prices when you're purchasing. People are reporting back that you can calll 24/7 and they can order it for you with the correct sale price, or alternatively (and what I'd recommend), you can also place the order and get it adjusted later. Wait times tonight (at 3 AM EST) are approximately 20 minutes, and in that time you could lose your item. It seems the craziness of the night is over, and the site is back to mostly full functionality. If you placed an order on the wrong price last night, the correct price should be reflected in your order history now, but you can call customer service to verify as well. If it's still showing the wrong price somewhere, it should be rectified when your order is actually processed, but I would still take a screenshot just in case.
Without rehashing a long spiel about it, Mr. Porter has the widest breadth of stock at some of the lowest prices annually on things you don't normally find on sale, and with a free shipping and free return policy. That last part means you can try something and return it if it doesn't work out, no risk.

For example, these Visvim boots below are $330 right now. The Vibergs above are $312. That's nuts. That's Allen Edmonds pricing. Quoddy slippers are $72. Inis Meain around $150. Name me the last time you saw a new Filson briefcase at $142.
70% is typically the craziest time of the sale. There are bigger discounts combined with more stock (a lot of returns from last year as well), and things move very quickly. So this is one of those times (like the recent J. Crew sale) where you really have to go go go. If you're up, it's not time to sleep. If you're at work, it's time for a break. Case in point: while I was typing this, I lost an Inis Meain donegal scarf in my cart. This is Christmas for menswear, except you get presents you actually want. It's what Black Friday is supposed to be.
